Start an Orange alert
Set a countdown, choose self-monitoring or Notify Protectors, and leave an audio message if useful.

Orange can escalate to Red
If the countdown expires, the alert becomes urgent and a Red notification sequence begins.

Protectors are notified in order
Alerts move through the Seeker's priority list until someone takes responsibility for responding.

A Protector selects “I am responding”
Reviewing an alert is not enough to stop notifications. Selecting this action stops the current cascade and shows everyone who is responding.

The Seeker presses Green when safe
This closes the active alert. Emergency Services, if contacted, must be updated separately by phone.

Getting started
What is Watchful i?+
Watchful i is a personal safety and reassurance app. It helps a Seeker stay connected with trusted Protectors using a simple Green, Orange and Red alert system.
What permissions should I allow?+
Allow notifications, location, camera and microphone access when the app requests them. Notifications deliver alerts, location helps Protectors respond, and camera and microphone access support recording when needed.
How many Protectors should I add?+
You can add as many as you need. We recommend starting with two or three trusted people and placing them in a priority order.
Alerts and responses
What is the difference between Orange and Red Alerts?+
Orange is a precautionary Watch Me alert. It can run as a private countdown or notify Protectors immediately. Red means urgent help is required now and sends a priority alert to your Protector network.
What happens when an Orange timer reaches zero?+
The Orange alert escalates to Red. Your Protector notification sequence begins for the urgent alert, with the available alert details and location shared.
Why am I still receiving alerts after I open one?+
Opening an alert lets you review it, but it does not stop the notification sequence. Select I am responding when you are taking responsibility for the response. That stops the current cascade and records who is responding.
Who is notified first?+
Protectors are notified in the priority order set by the Seeker. If nobody selects I am responding, the app continues to notify the next Protector. A Red escalation starts its own urgent notification sequence.
How do I end an alert?+
The Seeker presses Green, I am safe, once they are safe. If Emergency Services have been contacted, they must be updated or cancelled by phone as well.
Protectors
What should I do when I receive a Red alert?+
Open the alert, review the location and event history, and contact the Seeker. Select I am responding only when you are actively taking responsibility for the response. Call 000 if there is immediate danger.
Can a Protector also be a Seeker?+
Yes. The same person can be a Protector for someone else and use Watchful i as a Seeker for their own reassurance and safety.
Can Protectors see a Seeker's location all the time?+
No. Location is shared during an active supervised Orange alert or a Red alert. Watchful i is designed around consent, not continuous tracking.
Technical help and privacy
Why can I not hear alert sounds?+
Check that notifications are allowed for Watchful i, your phone is not in a mode that silences critical notifications, and your device volume is on. Protectors should keep alert sound and vibration enabled.
Will Watchful i work if signal is lost?+
A self-monitoring countdown continues on the server. If it expires, the app uses the alert information uploaded before signal was lost. A live response still depends on the phone and Protectors being able to receive notifications.
