The concept originated from Ken's experience with Marine Rescue NSW's log-on / log-off system — a simple, effective peace-of-mind mechanism. The insight: what if that same reassurance could be provided for everyday personal safety? Most safety concerns are not dramatic emergencies — they are everyday anxiety and worry.
Five years ago, Adelle Alexander faced a serious medical crisis. Recovering around the family dinner table, she asked: “How can we give back?” That question became Watchful i.
60+ years understanding human behaviour and safety psychology. Former Australian Army Psychology Corps officer, Marine Rescue NSW volunteer and KPMG partner. Ken has built awareness of behaviour under stress into every part of the app.

The current team brings over 95 years of combined expertise. The founding group, active until the end of 2025, was a multi-generational family effort — including Gregory Alexander (psychologist, counsellor and business manager with IT expertise), Thomas Alexander (younger-generation business and social media) and app-development adviser Marcus Marten-Coney. Greg, Thomas and Marcus are no longer active, having helped bring the app to its present level; Watchful i is now managed by a smaller, focused team working steadily toward its original goals.
